Getting a Good Fit in Women’s Bikini Swimwear and One Piece Swimwear
Women’s swimwear is incredibly stretchy, from 75 to 100%. This is not good if you are going to wear a size too small. Bikini swimwear material that gets stretched beyond its maximum comfort zone causes unsightly bulges. Generally this means if you have 41" hips you should not order a medium bottom. Get a large. The most important thing is how the swimsuit fits you.
When buying garment online, you must take proper body measurements. Use a cloth measuring tape if possible (elastic ones stretch out eventually).Only undergarments should be worn during measurements. If you take measurements over bulky or constricting clothing, you will not be accurately assessing your size. If the garment will be worn with specific items, it is ok to wear them during the measurements.
Chest: To measure your chest circumference, place the tape around the widest part of the chest or bust, under the arms. The tape must be parallel with the floor.
Waist: Determine the waist size by taking a string or elastic band and tying it (parallel to the floor; snug but not overly tight) around the trunk of the person being measured. It will fall to the narrowest part of the trunk on its own. If you think the true waist area is too high, use the height at which one generally wears one’s pants.
Hips: Measure around while keeping the tape around the widest part of your hips.
The following tips will help you determine what to select.
FULL BOTTOM: Larger hips & thighs
BEST STYLE: Suits with skirts and no straps are great to accentuate the right parts and create an illusion for those which are unsightly.
FULL BUSTED: Large bust
BEST STYLE: High neckline and oodles of support are required in this case. Tankinis and halters are recommended for larger busted women.
FULL CENTER: A round figure
BEST STYLE: High cut legs helps enhance length. Use cups or underwire support to enhance your bust.
HOUR GLASS: Shapely
BEST STYLE: Almost everything looks good on shapely women.
LONG & SLENDER: Few curves
BEST STYLE: Prints, florals, and patterns are best.
SMALL BUST: Small chested
BEST STYLE: Use underwires and padding. Sweetheart, V-neck or scoop necklines also work.
LARGE STOMACH: Protruding lower belly
BEST STYLE: Use florals and vertical stripes for illusion. For small busted women, use underwires for cleavage. Higher cut legs also give you a silhouette that looks longer and leaner. Use higher waist bottoms or full bottoms with higher cut legs. These are great. They give the impression of a flatter stomach. Tankini tops also help to cover the stomach area. These will help add a proportion to a larger woman.
THICK THIGHS: Big upper legs
BEST STYLE: Avoid boy shorts. Try high cut styles so that legs look leaner.
ATHLETIC BODY: Muscular arms and legs and broad shoulders.
BEST STYLE: Use padded tops to enhance your bust. Asymmetrical necklines & midriff cutaways also help this body type.
